September 15 at 8:00 pm  -  Beatlemania On Tour.  Beatlemania On Tour is a magical mystery tour exploring the Beatles and 'Revolution' in popular music and culture. Employing authentic 'Beatle' instruments, amplifiers, and costumes coupled with your favourite Beatle classics.  Main Stage Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

September 24 at 8:00 pm  -  Louise Pitre on the Main Stage at KCTC. 

September 25 at 8:00 pm  -  Orchestral Kaleidoscope.  Classical favourites with a twist!  The Kaleidoscope concerts are always among the most talked about.  The Sault Symphony Orchestra with featured soloists from the Orchestra.  At the Soo Theatre, 534 Ashmun Street, SSM, MI.

October 1 at 8:00 pm  -  Lily Frost & The Debonairs.  A Tribute to Billie Holiday. Gemini nominated singer-songwriter Lily Frost brings a new and fresh interpretation to classic songs by the legendary Billie Holiday. Backed by The Debonairs and with arrangements tat recall the heyday of swing Lily blends a period feel with a contemporary style.  Algoma's Water Tower Inn and Suites- The Pavilion.

October 2 at 8:00 pm  -  Natalie MacMaster.   Natalie MacMaster, virtuoso Cape Breton fiddler, is an electrifying performer whose passionate proficiency amplifies the traditional East Coast sound. She is widely acclaimed for taking Celtic music to new heights with a creativity and range that pushes the boundaries of the genre.  Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

October 5 at 8:00pm  -  K'NAAN.  Coming off the success of his world cup tour with Waving Flag and winning Junos for Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, K'NAAN has hit the big time with a big song. But dig a little deeper and you find an artist who successfully blends samples and live instrumentation for a sound that's both rooted in traditional African melodies and the classic hip-hop tradition. For anyone who's said that hip-hop has nothing left to say, K'NAAN proves that it all depends on where you look.  Algoma Fall Festival.  On the Main Stage KCTC. 

October 7 at 8:00 pm  -  Trudeau Stories.  Written & Performed by Brooke Johnsonn 1985, while she was a student at the National Theatre School in Montreal, Brooke Johnson became friends with Pierre Elliot Trudeau. Through reminiscences, journal entries and correspondence, Brooke brings to life the story of a remarkable friendship. This private insight into the man and the times as seen through the eyes of a passionate artist is not to be missed.  Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

October 15 at 8:00 pm  -  Kahawi Dance Theatre.  A Story Before Time is an enchanting interpretation of an age-old Iroquoian creation story.  The journey begins as Sky Beings dance like stars in the cosmos and life on Turtle's back takes shape.  Visually stunning, musically rich and theatrically compelling,  this spectacular dance work is entertaining and insightful.  Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

 
October 16 at 8:00 pm  -  The Schumann Letters.  German Composer Robert Schumann fell in love with a young virtuoso Clara Wieck and the thousands of letters written between them provides the inspiration for this music-as-theatre performance.,  This timeless story of love, life, tragedy and triumph features Schumann's beautiful piano and vocal music.  Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.

October 22 at 8:00 pm  -  Drums United.  African drums, Dance, Hip Hop, Indian tablas, Cuban rumbas and more all come together in Drums United's thrilling show Rjitmo Inferno.  Drums United is an explosive and exciting world-percussion group from the Netherlands that unites rhythms and percussionists from six different countries.  Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre.
 
October 23 at 8:00 pm  -  Lynn Miles.  Juno award winning singer-songwriter Lynn Miles performs material from her latest CDs:  Fall For Beauty, Black Flowers and Love Sweet Love.  Miles is considered on of Canada's finest singer-songwriters.  The result is a warm, hopeful sound in perfect harmony with Miles' smart, heartbreaking lyrics.  Algoma's Water Tower Inn and Suites - The Pub.

October 25 at 7:30 pm  -  Virsky National Ukrainian Company 2010 Canadian Tour Ukrainian National Folk Dance.  P. Virsky Ukrainian National Folk Dance Ensemble is a well renowned Ukrainian dance company based out of the Ukraine,well known for its innovative approach to the art form. Virsky's aim is to create dances that embrace historical Ukrainian dance traditions as well as dances that are innovative and forward moving.

October 28 at 8:00 pm  -  7-Up Presents Gerry Dee Live Tour on the Main Stage at KCTC.

 

October 29 at 8:00 pm  -  Alex*Cuba.  Two-time Juno award winner Cuban Soul Rock artist Alex*Cuba is on the vanguard.  Crafting a cross-cultural sound of sweet melodies, pop-soul hooks and rock chords, Cuba is redefining the notion of what Cuban music is and features surprising new grooves, innovative electric guitar inflections and varying tempos and structures.  Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront.

November 5 at 7:30 pm  -  The Tallis Scholars. Algoma Conservatory Concerts.

November 13 at 8:00 pm  -  Walt Disney FANTASIA 2000.  A unique, not to miss experience.  Enjoy the film while listening to the classical soundtrack performed LIVE by the Sault Symphony Orchestra!  On the Main Stage at KCTC.

November 27 at 7:30 pm  -  Guy Few & Stephanie Mara.  Algoma Conservatory Concerts.

December 8-11 at 7:30 pm  -   December 12 at 2:00 pm  -  Irving Berlin's White Christmas.  A full stage production of this favourite family classic, directed by Timothy Murphy, with the Sault Symphony Orchestra.  On the Main Stage at KCTC.

The Group of Seven Train Event


The day begins in Sault Ste. Marie where we board the Algoma Central Railway Passenger Train and ride the train to Searchmont village.  Once at Searchmont we will go to Searchmont Resort for a day of activities around the Group of Seven.  There will be guided nature walks, a presentation by Catharine Mastin (grand-daughter of Franklin Carmichael), reproductions and narrations of the Group of Seven’s work (narrated by Michael Burtch), water-colour workshop with Sheila Currie, oil painting workshop with Taimi Poldmaa, photography workshop with Tim Harris, live musical entertainment by Time Travellers and a gourmet lunch! 

The day wraps up at 3 pm when a bus arrives to bring us back to Sault Ste. Marie (unfortunately there is no train, so we have to go by bus for the return trip).  Tickets are $55.00 (train to the event, bus ride home, all activities) or $45.00 (bus ride to and from the event and all activities) or $35.00 (all activities and you provide your own transportation).  We are limited to 100 people for the tickets with the train ride so please get your tickets early to avoid any disappointment!
